The first high school for fine arts was established in 1908 in Cairo. The faculty was founded in Alexandria in 1957 by Prof. Dr. Ahmed Othman, one of the pioneers in contemporary sculpture and the first Faculty Dean. 




Faculty study aims at preparing specialized graduates in plastic arts creation via the faculty five department’s specializations (Architecture – Decoration - Printed designs – Photography – sculpture)

* In 1962, the first students group graduated after obtaining B.Sc. in Arts sections specialization.

* In 1964, the first students group graduated after obtaining B.Sc. in Architecture.

* In 1975, Helwan University was founded and combined the Faculty of Fine Arts.

In 1989, a decree was issued from Republic President to combine the Faculty of Fine Arts to Alexandria University.

Duration of study for bachelor degree ...Five academic years

The study begins with special preparatory year in the following departments: Architecture, Decoration and General Arts. The preparatory year qualifies students for admission to the departments (Printed Designs - Photography - Sculpture). The specialization will be according to the curriculum tables.
The study is based on the two semesters system where exams are held at the end of each semester for completed courses while exams of continuing courses are held at the end of the second semester.

 The Faculty Board is authorized to determine the scientific content while the mentioned departments are authorized to teach the courses and conduct researches in the scientific disciplines and materials.

 

Characterization of experiences related to Diploma degree in a discipline of Arts 

  • Deepen the specialized design experience in the field of specialization.
  • Giving the students all up to date skills in the areas of implementation.
  • Development of overall cognitive experiences of students through a general diploma.
  • Acquiring students higher capacities in the areas of specialization related to their work in the community.
  • Development of students’ to scientific competency.
  • Specialized rehabilitation for graduates at intervals to keep pace with recent developments in the specialization.
  • Qualifying graduates for Master’s level in some or all disciplines.

Characterization of experiences related to Master’s degree in a discipline of Arts.

·        Rehabilitation of student to acquire experience related to research methodology in specialization discipline in Arts

·        Upgrading students' ability to use their minds to discover and activate research assumptions in disciplines.

·        Acquiring the student proficiency skills on data verification, referential attribution, inference of related ideas and comparisons, results consolidation and precision of research methodology.

·        Training on ideas arrangement, presentation and formulation and how to use terminology to reflect the depth of specialization experience.

·        Deepen students' ability of specialized engrossment in order to discover new research issues which can improve the discipline and serve education process.

·        Deep understanding of parallel specialized achievement on the local and international level till achieving comprehensiveness.   

·        Rehabilitation for PhD degree in the specialized discipline of arts

  • Upgrading the capabilities of students to have all methodology requirements of research in the field of arts.
  • Increasing the activating processes of mental, creative and executive capacities of students in order to accomplish innovative research that should develop the specialization.
  • Enable students to have intellectual and creative character that has its independent methodology in the specialization.
  • Upgrading personal capabilities of students to achieve integration between continuous systematic scientific rehabilitation and developed achievement of specialization objectives.
  • Enable students to achieve systematic excellence research that should insure the international competitiveness of their scientific degrees and their specialized researches.​​
